Nine axes and twelve axes
The original 9Axes website offers a 45-question short quiz and a 216-question full quiz. 12 axes offers 60 and 288 questions. Both designs therefore ask five questions per axis in the short version and twenty-four in the full version. That structural similarity does not mean the statements, scoring rules or resulting percentages are the same. This comparison concerns 9axes.github.io and the current 12axes.org questionnaire.
Read the mapping as a guide to topics
Some labels have close counterparts, while others cover different ground. For example, 9Axes separates cultural assimilation from multiculturalism. The Migration axis here asks about openness and restriction. Someone can welcome immigration while favouring a shared civic culture, so those questions cannot be treated as equivalent. Similarly, international cooperation does not imply agreement with every foreign intervention.
What does 12 axes separate?
Welfare distinguishes responsibility for basic needs from the broader distribution and market questions in Economy. Environment gives ecological trade-offs their own scale. Technology separates precaution and acceleration from the preservation or revision of social norms. These are deliberate choices in this website’s framework. They are not evidence that the twelve scores are statistically independent or that one test outperforms the other.
Can I move my 9Axes result here?
There is no validated conversion or answer import. Retake the questions rather than entering nine percentages as if they were twelve measurements. Compare the descriptions and the policy trade-offs, and note the date and questionnaire length. Choose the short form for a first look, or the longer form if you have time to consider more statements on each subject. Extra questions broaden coverage but do not eliminate wording effects or uncertainty.
